Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche
The Italian National Research Council (CNR) is the main public research organization of Italy. The CNR consists of about 100 different research institutes that span from human sciences to engineering sciences.
The security group of the Institute of Telematics and Informatics (IIT-CNR) in Pisa runs research and development activities in cyber-security. The group consists of about 25 persons, ranging from researchers to Ph.D. students and software engineers.
In the Internet sector, IIT represents the Italian Registry in charge with the registration and management of domain names within the country code top level domain “it” (ISO 3166). Due to this activity, IIT interacts with around 1400 Italian and foreign Internet Service Providers.
As part of the CNR, the security group has a significant expertise on cloud security, usage control and distributed security in general. Specifically, the group developed several technologies for Data Sharing Agreements managements as well as advanced usage control techniques. They currently lead the FP7 funded Network of Excellence of Engineering Secure Software and Systems (NESSoS). Moreover, they coordinate the CNR Interdepartmental Security Project, for the prevention of any action that may be harmful to society, humans, and organizations in Italy, with special emphasis to cyber security and critical infrastructure protection.
These researchers are (or have been) involved, with several roles, in national and European projects FP6-FP7: among the other, NESSoS, Aniketos, Coco-Cloud, CAMINO, Connect, Contrail, SESAMO, Consequence, Sensoria, S3MS, GridTrust. They are also active in EIT ICT Labs projects and leading some security activities.

INTEL DEUTSCHLAND GMBH
In 1976 Intel established its first office in Munich, Feldkirchen, which became the headquarters of Intel Deutschland GmbH. Today the city is home to around 3,500 employees working around Munich.
Intel’s largest campus is situated in Neubiberg, Germany, and houses its core business – developing modem technologies and solutions to enable next-generation wireless connectivity. It is also the hub of some of Intel’s transformative businesses – such as autonomous driving. As Germany is home to some of the largest car manufacturers in the world, it makes it the perfect place for employees to work on research and development, and engineering in the automotive space. In 2016, Intel acquired start-up Ascending Technologies, adding drones to the portfolio.
The legal entity participating to this project proposal is incorporated as ‘Intel Deutschland GmbH’, a fully owned subsidiary of Intel Corporation, which is a multinational company that designs, manufactures and sells data centers, computer components, and wireless and connectivity solutions. The products portfolio includes, but is not limited to, microprocessors for different market segments (ranging from data centers in the cloud to low power client devices at the edge of the Internet of Things), programmable logic devices, non-volatile memory devices, and wired and wireless connectivity devices (including those for cellular communications). Intel is currently investing significant resources into standardization, research and development of technologies related to 5G and beyond 5G wireless communication systems.
Finally, it is worth mentioning that very promising new enabling technologies as Multi-access Edge Computing, advanced spectrum management techniques, cloud RAN, Network virtualization function and slicing mechanisms are also in focus. Intel Deutschland is a very active participant at the regional, national and European funding levels, being an active contributor to several collaborative research projects (around twenty in the last five years).
